I know I was!
I spent a long time as a band member and contributing writer, trying to play by the old music industry rules for sharing your songs: Write 20 songs, keep 8 for a record, release it, tour to support the record, rinse and repeat every year or two.
This formula might work if you are a pop star or a legacy act, but it sure wasn't working for me or the bands I was in. We wrote some good tunes, spent a lot of our money recording the tracks, shared the songs with our friends, and had a good time on the road. But... it wasn't really growing anything sustainable.
So, in an effort to grow as a songwriter and to break away from the old write-release-tour cycle, I decided to commit myself to writing and releasing a new song every three weeks for a year, and see what happens.
